Aircraft Mechanic Mech I

MECH I DUTIES

  • Demonstrates the ability to inspect and repair scheduled/unscheduled maintenance actions.
  • Demonstrates technical experience to provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the supported C-130 airframe.
  • Maintains and repairs C-130 structures and components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, tires, landing gear, avionics and electrical and mechanical components.
  • Determines C-130 equipment malfunctions by applying technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems.
  • Applies technical expertise to restore equipment to operational condition.
  • Solves problems by applying professional technical expertise and guidance and by interpreting technical data such as blueprints / schematics and manufacturer's manuals.
  • Maintains and repairs all C-130 Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to include: Power Carts, Hydraulic Carts, Nitrogen Carts, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years “hands on” experience on aircraft. Applicants should state which aircraft they have experience on.
  • Must be able to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration if required.
  • Must possess a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting / repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal / structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of electrical systems.
  • Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural / mechanical engineers as well as customers, must possess excellent time management skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule.
  • Must have a detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp, or handle objects, (finger dexterity), bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.

MECH III LEAD DUTIES

  • Demonstrates the ability to lead a team in performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance activities.
  • Demonstrates technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the C-130 airframe.
  • Capable of performing, supervising, and inspecting the duties of Mechanic I, II and III personnel.
  • Maintains, repairs, and modifies C-130 structures, structural components, and engines ranging from complex to extreme difficulty.
  • Maintains and repairs C-130 components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, tires, landing gear, avionics and electrical and mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoots / determines equipment malfunctions by applying technical knowledge of C-130 airframe and power plant systems.
  • Applies technical expertise to restore equipment to operational condition.
  • Solves complex problems by applying professional technical expertise and guidance and by interpreting technical data such as blueprints / schematics or manufacturer’s manuals.
  • Inspect / clears aircraft discrepancy symbols to include Red X discrepancies and inspect / signs all equipment condition tags for all tasks that the team is assigned.
